Today marks the five-year anniversary of the passing of my father, Richard B. Foster, Sr., a man whose life was a testament to love, devotion, and family. While this milestone brings with it a sense of sorrow, it also inspires deep gratitude for the incredible person he was and the legacy he left behind.

Richard B. Foster, Sr. was more than a name to us; he was the cornerstone of our family. As the loving husband to my mother, Ramona Foster, and the proud father to seven children, his life was defined by the relationships he cherished most. His laughter filled our home, his wisdom shaped our decisions, and his love was the glue that held us together.

My father was a man of many strengths. He worked tirelessly to provide for us, instilling the values of hard work and integrity in each of his children. He had a quiet strength that commanded respect, but his heart overflowed with kindness. Whether it was through his gentle advice, his unwavering presence at family events, or the way he held my mother’s hand, he showed us every day what it meant to love selflessly.

In the years since his passing, we have found ways to keep his memory alive. His stories are still shared around the dinner table, his favorite songs bring a bittersweet smile to our faces, and his sayings have become part of our daily conversations. As a family, we strive to honor him by living out the values he taught us: love, compassion, and resilience.

Though we miss him deeply, I find comfort in knowing he is at peace. His life was a gift, and his impact is eternal. As I reflect on this anniversary, I am reminded of the words of Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Even in grief, I feel the closeness of God’s love. Each day that passes without him, is one day closer to him in Glory.

Today, we choose to celebrate the life of Richard B. Foster, Sr., a man whose love continues to bring joy to our hearts. We are his legacy, and we carry him with us in everything we do.

Dad, we miss you, we love you, and we will never forget you. Thank you for showing us how to love and live with love, power, and grace. Your memory is our treasure, and your legacy lives on in each of us.

Until we meet again, Papito!
