The other day it was super hot outside and it seemed like everywhere I turned there was a kid with ice cream. Large gorgeous scoops of frozen gold in a waffle cone of goodness. My love of ice cream is real. I haven’t had ice cream in over two years and I’ll never have it again.

I remember reading a BuzzFeed article a young woman wrote about how perceptions of her changed when she lost 100lbs. It was something I could identify with wholeheartedly as a woman of a larger size who then lost weight. The part of the article that really resonated with me was when she referred to her […]
I saw a post today on Facebook that broke my heart. She wrote: I regret having Gastric Bypass. Then I remembered a video where I heard some profound words: No one ever breaks your heart, they break your expectations. Since March it seems like everywhere I looked there was a ton of posts referencing Summer Bodies. This often posted phenomenon makes sure that immediately following the failure of your New Year’s Resolution of healthy living, you can start feeling the pressure of having a Summer Body. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to share my story about my weight and subsequent weight loss. Weight is a fickle beast. Often the elephant in the room and not discussed. We frequently hide our own feelings and disappointments about weight because of our own shame. That was me. Always trying to pretend I was fine […]
I was never much of a cook. My lack of cooking is almost legendary. My husband is my perfect match because he loves cooking and grocery shopping which are two things I could live without. One of the things that really had to change when I had my RNY surgery was I had to learn how to cook.
After much trial and error, I started to learn about seasonings and food combinations and really getting into the calorie counts. It started to become challenging in a good way and even a little bit fun. Many people have asked me about my recipes since I can be a bit of a post-a-holic on Facebook and Instagram.
